Yes, it’s true: Tamarindo is a surfer’s paradise. But that does not mean that surfing is the only activity that Tamarindo does really well. 1. Watching The Sunset
Everything is about the sunset. The amount of photos that are taken around 5:30 each night in Tamarindo probably beats out the rest of the day combined. The community could be about its regular business until 5:10, but come 5:15, everybody starts congregating onto the beach to see the sunset to the left.
This is also when most of the beachside restaurants offer happy hour. So you can sip your favorite cocktail while watching the sky turn shades of orange, pink, and purple. It is the epitome of the Pura Vida lifestyle.
2. Bicycling
Tamarindo is an incredibly bike-friendly town for men, women, and children alike. On any given day you will see many bicyclists going from here to there and everywhere, using their bikes as a means of transportations. Other times, a bike is a perfect way to simply enjoy the day even with no destination. Having a bike, whether you are on vacation or living in town, also makes for a great way to go back and forth between the neighboring beach, Playa Langosta.
3. Eating Diverse Cuisine
Simply because Costa Rica is known for its rice, beans, and plantains does not mean there is not a more diverse variety of cuisines in Tamarindo. You will find Italian food, Greek food, Mexican food, American barbecue, and much more. From large steakhouses for dinner and quaint eateries for breakfast and lunch, you will be surprised how eating through the restaurants in Tamarindo can become an activity in and of itself.
4. Playing Sports
As one could assume, a pick-up soccer game can be found frequently in Tamarindo, on the beach or in a field. There are also organized leagues for kids and adults. Volleyball is another beloved pastime in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. There are so many other ways to stay active in Costa Rica. An abundance of yoga studios keeps the yogis of the community happy too.

Most nights of the week offer multiple options for live entertainment.
