Tamarindo, like the rest of Costa Rica, essentially has two seasons: wet and dry. From December to April it usually does not rain at all in Tamarindo.
In the shoulder season, May to August, you may get an occasional afternoon shower, but most of the days are sunny with a few puffy clouds. In other areas of the country where the rainforests are located, well, there is more rain.
With the lowest rainfall in Costa Rica, Tamarindo offers you plenty of sunshine to keep going even in the rainy months of September and October. Sure, it may rain nearly daily, but the rain typically only lasts a couple hours.
